The 4th of July usually means fireworks, cookouts, and celebrating independence, but for the past two years it has meant running 6.2 miles. I have relatives that live in Atlanta, and challenged my family to participate in the annual Peachtree Road Race. This years race had 55,000 runners including a wheelchair division. The wheelchair division is sponsored by Shepherd Center, and had 80 competitors(60 male and 20 female). This year the male and female winners were both from Switzerland. Marcel Hug finished with a time of 19:36.92 and Edith Hunkeler pushed her way to the finish line with a time of 23:09.98. This was Edith's fifth Peachtree win. Hopefully one day we will have representation from Auburn University.
