Jared and I were invited to Camp ASCCA's Annual Sports Camp this past Monday to help with a wheelchair basketball and tennis demonstration. If you are not familiar with Camp ASCCA it is located on Lake Martin in Jackson's Gap, Alabama. They serve children and adults with disabilities, and you can read more about ASCCA at their website campascca.org.
ASCCA's sports camp is a week long event that involves a number of adaptive sports. There were 17 kids with and with out disabilities at the camp. The reason ASCCA incorporates non-disabled is to teach disability awareness. We had a great time and hope that the kids learned something about wheelchair basketball and tennis.
Kevin Orr was also there to help with wheelchair basketball. Kevin is a former University of Illinois wheelchair basketball player and is currently the Head Coach of the Canadian National Rugby Team.
